Greetings everyone in the Zombie Nation. We have partnered with the great folks over at SPIRIT Halloween Superstores to help raise awareness for their terrific charity, The SPIRIT of Children.

Founded in 2006, Spirit of Children helps make hospitals less scary for kids and their families by providing fun during Halloween and funding all year long to Child Life Departments within children's hospitals.

Each year with the help of our vendor partners, Spirit sponsors and hosts Halloween celebrations in children's hospitals throughout the country. Members of the Spirit field team bring everything that's needed in order to have the best party possible from costumes to goody bags. Everything brought to the hospitals is donated by Spirit and our vendor partners. It's a remarkable event that touches thousands of pediatric patients and brings countless smiles and laughter to children who might otherwise miss out on the joy of Halloween.

Additionally, throughout each Halloween season all Spirit stores conduct in-store fundraising campaigns. This year alone we collected over $2.3 million cash and merchandise donations. All told we have raised $4.6 million for over 100 children's hospitals since 2007. What makes this program so unique is that at the end of each season, every dollar, 100% of the money collected in our stores or donated by our loyal and passionate customers and vendor partners is given to the Child Life departments.

Spirit of Children chooses to partner with and support Child Life whose main function is to provide developmental, educational and therapeutic support for children undergoing medical treatment. Trained counselors help children and their families cope with the many stresses involved when a child is in the hospital.

While each hospital is unique in their needs, the money we collect and donate to child life has been used to purchase such educational and entertainment items as laptop computers, DVD players, iPods, flat screen TVs as well as equipment and toys designed specifically for children with physical challenges. In addition to toys and equipment, money raised has been used for such things as; funding field trips, adding staff to keep playrooms open longer and on weekends or developing rehabilitative art programs to name just a few.

This year we beat our goal and collected $2.3 million in cash and merchandise donations for more than 100 children's hospitals in the United States and Canada.

The Zombie Nation faithful took on the north Texas heat in full force this past Friday the 13th in Arlington as ZOMBIE MANOR opened for One Night of Fright to provide halloween and haunt enthusiasts with a sneek peek of the all new sets and special effects for the 2010 season. Guests were thrilled by our new Zombie Attack - the first of its kind in DFW. While temps hit triple digits most of the day, cold drinks provided by the MONSTER drink energy team helped keep the crowds charged and enthusiastic while waiting in line up to an hour to visit one of the TOP RATED Haunted House experiences in Texas. Special thanks go out to the ZOMBIE MANOR team for surviving the heat and also to our guests from The HAUNT HOUSE, SCREAMS and Hangman's House of Horrors that were there to lend a hand. Will There Be A Sequel To Zombieland? We Can Only Hope!
It looks like a sequel to Zombieland is definitely a very big possibility. It seems that pretty much everybody involved in the first movie is more than willing to return for a second helping of brains and blood. Before the movie was even released, script co-writer Paul Wernick told MTV News the following in an interview:
"We would love it, and everyone involved creatively wants to do another one. Woody (Harrelson) came up to us after the final cut of the last scene and gave us a hug and said, 'I've never wanted to do a sequel in the previous movies I've done until this one.' It (the Zombieland concept) has lived in our heads for four-and-a-half years. We developed it and wrote it as a spec TV pilot in the summer of 2005. We've got a long brainstorming document that still to this day gets updated on a near-weekly basis with ideas. We've got tons of new ideas swimming in our head. It all obviously depends on what happens on Friday at the box office. "We would love to do several sequels," Wernick said. We would love to also see it on television. It would make a wonderful TV series." Well, the fact that the movie did in the neighborhood of $25 million on it's first weekend of release and that the word of mouth on the movie is so positive, I don't think they'll have much of a problem keeping the box office momentum going. I think it's safe to say that a sequel at this point is inevitable. Wernick and co-creator Rhett Reese stated that not only Harrelson would return, but Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, Abigail Breslin, and first-time director Ruben Fleischer would be on board.Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese both said that they have a couple of other projects to finish work on before they'll be able to concentrate on Zombieland.

They were out in force, the ghastly ones. Hordes of stumbling, moaning, bloodied zombies invaded the Paramount Theatre on Friday night for the local premiere of the deliciously funny-sick zombie comedy “Zombieland,” the marquee title for night No. 2 during Fantastic Fest. (“Zombieland” opens in theaters Oct. 2. More about the movie, with trailer, HERE)

Besides the film’s coterie — stars Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg and Emma Stone and director Ruben Fleischer — droves of the dead wove through the crowd in front of the theater. This was thanks to Zombie Manor, an Arlington-based horror make-up crew that offered free “Zombieland” T-shirts to ticket holders willing to get gussied up as a zombie. They also came with their own minions of professional zombies that harassed and groaned at movie-goers.

It was an only-in-Austin, only-at-Fantastic-Fest scene …

Parasite Flies Turn Fire Ants Into ZOMBIES

It sounds like something out of science fiction: zombie fire ants. But it’s all too real.

Fire ants wander aimlessly away from the mound. Eventually their heads fall off, and they die. The strange part is that researchers at the University of Texas at Austin and Texas A&M’s AgriLife Extension Service say making "zombies" out of fire ants is a good thing.

"It’s a tool — they’re not going to completely wipe out the fire ant, but it’s a way to control their population," said Scott Ludwig, an integrated pest management specialist with the AgriLife Extension Service in Overton, in East Texas.

The tool is the tiny phorid fly, native to a region of South America where the fire ants in Texas originated. Researchers have learned that there are as many as 23 phorid species along with pathogens that attack fire ants to keep their population and movements under control.

So far, four phorid species have been introduced in Texas.

What a terrific event to "kick off" the start of the haunting season as vendors, haunters, film makers and special effects teams converged at the America's Center March 27-29, 2009. Austin drivers alerted to undead ahead, thanks to determined hackers

Austin - Someone with time to kill caused a few double-takes among motorists passing a busy Austin intersection this week.

Electronic signs intended to warn motorists of construction near the intersection of Lamar and Martin Luther King Boulevards were changed Wednesday to warn of "Zombies ahead! Run for your lives!" The two signs are about a half-mile west of the University of Texas at Austin.

The message was displayed for only a few hours, said Sara Hartley, an Austin Public Works spokeswoman. "It's sort of amusing, but not at all helpful," she told FOXNews.com.

The hackers cut a padlock to get into the signs' computers, she said. The stunt is a Class C misdemeanor punishable by a $500, fine she told an Austin TV station.

In the meantime, if you're driving in Austin, you can rest assured: There are no zombies ahead

DFW's latest entry into the dark attraction industry is not your typical spookhouse. Our carpenters, costumers, animators, SCARE-actors and engineers are creating highly detailed theatrical sets, sights and frights to thrill haunted house enthusiasts in 2008.

If you have always wanted to participate "Behind the Scenes" of a film quality theatrical dark attraction now is your chance. Prior film, theater or seasonal attraction experience is a bonus but not required. Hands on training by our seasoned halloween frighteners will teach you new skills weekly.

Rahr & Sons Brewing Company carries on a rich 150 year tradition of making GREAT BEER in downtown Fort Worth with a talented crew of professional brewmasters and enthusiastic volunteer staff.

The Rahr family has been making beer for generations. In fact, Rahr’s history of beer making in the United States is older than Fort Worth itself!

In the year 1847, Wilhelm "William" Rahr and his young bride "Natalie" left behind their beloved Rhineland, Germany and came to America. Within the year, on the banks of the Manitowoc River and Lake Michigan, William Rahr had established himself in industry - the Eagle Brewery and Malt House. Here, the brewery and malting facility produced fine German lagers and rich roasted malts.

The Eagle Brewery was the first "lager" brewery in Wisconsin. His three sons and two nephews helped make the Eagle Brewery a great success. William's nephews soon moved off to Green Bay and Oshkosh, WI to found the Rahr breweries located in those cities.

Good evening all, last weekend Eerie Industries and Zombie Manor teamed up with Creature Teeth for a Make-N-Take session at HAuNTcon in Houston, "Monster Mouths Made Easy". We had a great turnout and everyone in attendance made a labstone cast from an alginate impression of their teeth and bite. Several even moved on to the sculpting phase of the project and created acrylic dental teeth.

Now let me tell ya, this is not an easy process for the first timer; however, haunter's from across the country stepped right in and did a terrific job.

The ZOMBIE NATION officially takes hold this weekend with our first scheduled day to begin panel construction for this season's NEWEST DARK ATTRACTION coming to Arlington, Texas.

ZOMBIE MANOR has been a couple years in the making building inventories and FLESHING OUT the storylines...but...now it's time to GET YOUR DEAD ON so come check us out. If you're interested in getting in on the ground floor and want to check out the plans for the 2008 season please come by THIS Saturday and/or Sunday.

We'll be at ZOMBIE MANOR this Saturday from 9:00 - 3:00
